Mrs. Darby founded and currently directs the Jamaican Folk Revue (a group of singers and musicans dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Jamaica's rich cultural heritage) to which contributes her extensive musical training and early theatrical background. In this capacity, Norma drew on her resourcefulness and creativity to costume the Folk singers and it was from this creative seed that Anansi Creations was conceptualized.
Hazel's love of her Jamaican culture deepened after she moved closer to home, coming to Miami in July 1991. She met Norma Darby in late 1991 when she became a member of the Jamaica Folk Revue. In Norma, she found a kindred spririt and together they generate a creative tornado.
